Title: Help in how to purchase a used Foretravel
Post by: cag on July 19, 2017, 12:41:50 pm
Hi, everyone

I have been soaking up the information here for a while.  I have finally decided that I want a Foretravel, determined that I would like get a 34' or 36' U270 or U295 in 2000 year timeframe.  I plan is using it at Horse Shows and to visit parks which tend to need a smaller coach.  I don't plan on living in it fulltime.

I found one a 2003 U270, motorcade #16598 located in Huntington Beach, CA.  My questions are related to how do I get it inspected?  I am up in Washington State.  Any help on locating a good person to inspect the coach would be greatly appreciated.

I plan on contacting Foretravel to see what they can tell me about the coach.

Thanks, Chris

Best way would be to take a high resolution camera or even a late Samsung/iPhone and shoot twenty or thirty high resolution photos. Post one or two here and the rest on a website like GooglePhotos. Link to the photos in your forum post and everyone can look and comment. Make sure you have bulkhead shots with a flash and in excellent resolution. This way, any glaring problems can be seen early and you won't go to the expense of flying someone in to do the inspection. Make sure the exposure and focus are right on as no one can tell much from a poor photo.

Put together a list of inspection items that you can do yourself and questions to ask seller. Year, model, chassis number, engine, miles, generator operation, hours, tire dates, fridge, heater, inverter, water pump, etc, etc. You get the idea. This also saves a lot of hassle. The seller should be willing to give you an hour demonstrating the operation of all the above items.

Use Photosync to transfer photos from your smart phone to your computer. Thirty minutes from phone/camera to computer (editing if necessary) to photosite and then forum post is about all the time it will take once you get used to doing it.

Perhaps someone on the Foreforum has a "buyer's checklist" you can download.

Beginning of this discussion group is a thread regarding 50 items to check when purchasing a used Foretravel.  I found it to be very useful in my search.  Also, if you have the build number enter that into the search box above and it will bring up any mentions of the coach by build number.  It is kind of hit or miss but may find something of interest that will help you in your decision.
