Barry,

Why do you need them?  What are they filtering out?

They filter out scorpions when they are spawning.

I'll bet the 1/4 turn shutoff valve, pipe and fittings cost more.

We add ounce of bleach to water fill, use our water pump like others 24/7 so our water tank is filled up again every week.

That said, we always drink, cook etc with Everpure filtered water, and I always wanted some way to also shower with filtered water, but gave up.

Figure that removing the chlorine is good for drinking and probably good for bathing.

Dermatologist suggested shower filter, which I never heard of before.  Checking Lowe's, Home Depot & online, we found that there are many inexpensive shower filter options suitable for home and motorhome.

Independent reviews are hard to find, but I figure the filters have charcoal to remove chlorine and probably some other stuff.  With our new lifestyle of spending extended months in NW Phoenix, we are aware of increased dry skin issues, so figured trying a few things could help.  We also are new fans of Cerave skin creams (Walmart, etc).

We love our Sun City home, but will be heading out next week for about 3 months to New Mexico, with the Balloon Fiesta back on the calendar.

The dry skin is a real problem to those that are afflicted by it............like my wife.  If we don't go to SW Florida or Brownsville, Texas in the winter her finger tips will crack open and be sore for months, and Bag Balm, et al don't really provide much relief for her.  The one thing that does is Neutrogena.

Let us know how the shower filter works on dry skin, I'm very interested.

I always suffered from dry skin issues and itchy periods as we traveled. The water in different areas could just make me crazy.  A final rinse with a pitcherful of water with just a teaspoon of vinegar would help.  I am a constant user of Cetaphil creme. Not as greasy as the Cerave or Lubriderm.  Never occurred to me to look for a filter for the shower!  Duh!

I will also say that when I stopped eating WHEAT, my itchiness improved immensely!  The roughness gradually went away, as did my acid reflux, my post nasal drip, and my headaches!  (Who knew I was such fun to live with!!)  I don't think I have a real problem with gluten, like many ... but perhaps a sensitivity to the wheat OR the chemicals it is treated with before harvesting (Roundup weed killer).  At any rate ... If I start getting less strict and start eating bread again, it all comes right back!

Our water here in Tucson is not the greatest ... but we filter our drinking water and have to treat the faucets for mineral build-up frequently.  I do not use a salt water softener at the house ... just a filtration system.  Can't see adding sodium to the water when there is already so much there!

For dry skin where we live in central Fl. we use Shea Moisture African Black Soap for Eczema and Psoriasis Therapy, recommended
by my Dermatologist at the VA.

1/4 turn shutoff has nothing to do with the shower filter...

We have had that valve in place for years, needed because our OEM shower faucet does not have a volume adjustment, just off/cold/hot on rotation.  This style of Moen does not have the push/pull volume control.  We reduce water flow to our kitchen-type shower sprayer hose handle by keeping the brass valve partly closed.

We have used this type of kitchen-hose for years because it is always closed until handle is pressed, reducing wasted water flows.

My bad.  Looked like it was necessary for mounting the filter.
