Title: Deka batteries
Post by: speedbird1 on July 24, 2017, 01:00:33 pm
I have Deka 8D8G batteries as house batteries and at least one is going down.
Where do we shop to get new ones at the best price (of course)

I got my gel replacement batteries manufactured by DEKA from private label Battery Giant.  Installed in 2013, they installed them as I wasn't going to lift 160# batteries.  I negotiated a price then for $500 each- probably more now.  Check out the private label batteries, their specs, and the manufacturer.

Best of luck        ^.^d

Deka 8g8d's are gels.  Not AGM's.  If original they are 15 years old.  Double the cycle life normally of AGMS.

My guru buddy agrees with most here that IF he was to use AGMS he would use Lifelines.

Just for the 250 amp hour rating and the quick charging that brand only features.

MK/deka/east penn later gels may have a much longer cycle life than your 15 year old ones according to the MK engineer in California.

AGM's cannot be equalized except for the lifeline's according to the magnum sw2812 setting info.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the inputs.  I have found gel ones at Batteries + plus for $650 and a 10% discount on-line..  They are made by Deka but with a different label and part number???  The part number is SLIG8D.

I will have them change them as I have no wish to get down there at these temperatures!!

If the old ones are original they have served me well and I hope to keep one, after I load test it, and use on the boat or hangar winch??

Talking batteries if anyone wants Lifeline 8Ds AGM my friend just bought 4 new from an outlet close to Chicago for $618 a piece but you have to buy minimum of 2. I can find the dealer if needed.
The next best price was the Battery guy in Florida at $675.

The slig8d weighs 157 pounds?  The MK 8g8d's weigh 167.

Maybe not the same battery?
