Title: BATTERY BANK
Post by: Old phart phred on July 25, 2017, 05:27:41 pm
The isolator appears dead (how to test?) and all batteries are wired together by a mobile tech when I got the coach.
what I got
(1) 2017 8D battery
(2) 2015 Costco/interstate group 27 I think, dual purpose rv/marine batteries 600CCA
(2) 2017 Costco/interstate group 27 I think, dual purpose rv/marine batteries 600CCA
+ one 2012 group 49 battery 900CCA in the garage left over from Mercedes diesel

any ideas on how to divide these into start and house, and what type of isolation system?

Convert the step well area to dual 8'ds house batteries and mount the 8'd for the motor in the open side grille area.  Did a lot of those.

Engine started better with the shorter cabling and a set of new gels for the house would work better with an optional future newer inverter,

OK so I bought two Lifeline AGM batteries getting tired of the mess back there. Got a reasonable deal at $567ea with free delivery. They are 8D batteries @250 amp hours each. Received them today. Man them suckers look wide. Yep to wide to fit into the OEM configured battery slots. Yeah I know should have looked at the dims before. Wouldn't have made any difference. Sometimes nothing is easy. Off to buy some steel.
