Title: GV Dash Defrost Vent Grills
Post by: NancyS on August 10, 2017, 09:03:55 pm
Is there a source for the Dash Front Defogger/Defrost vent grills, the black ones held in place by 4 screws?

I'm in the same boat you're in.  Just did a web search found these that I think will work:
Amazon.com: Old Air Products 32-8X - Indash Rectangular Vent / Louver for... (http://www.amazon.com/Old-Air-Products-32-8X-Rectangular/dp/B00LEV9DIO)
They also have the round air vents.  Look under "Old Air Products"
Custom Aftermarket A/C Systems & Replacement Parts for Hot Rod, Classic, &... (http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/)

Also check:  Rectangular Louvered Dash Vent 062-00116 | pdxrvwholesale (http://pdxrvwholesale.com/products/rectangular-louvered-dash-vent-062-00116)

And  Street Rod Parts » Heater & AC » AC Complete System | Street Rod HQ (http://www.streetrodhq.com/dept/Heater+%26+AC/cat/AC+Complete+System.html)

One of these should work.  Might have to change them all to match.  Let me know what you find.

Dan

Also if you're more into keeping up with the class of a Foretravel  you can try these custom A/C vents... only $150 - $300 ea.
Custom Aftermarket A/C Vents - Hot Rod, Muscle, Vintage or Classic (http://www.restomodair.com/view-all-products/vents/)

Maybe in the shape of the Foretravel Coat of Arms

Seriously:
Standard Rectangular Bezel Vents (http://www.parrautomotive.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=1684/category_id=319/mode=prod/prd1684.htm)

Nostalgic AC - Aftermarket Air Conditioning For Automobiles (http://nostalgicac.com/duct-hose-vents/dash-vents.html)

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what the OP is looking for.

I interpreted that he is looking for the defrost vents that come up at the front of the horizontal part of the dash, not the "front of the dash" outlets.

Looks like the cut out is around 2" x 4-3/4", the kicker is the 2" flex.  The old flex breaks at any bend below the old grill, the new 2" flex is a Dorman product that sells for $28.00 for 6 ft.

Sorry for the ssttuddering.... hard to reply with my phone. ;D

Found a wonderful company that manufacturers all kinds of Vintage A/C systems Vintage Air - Inventors of Performance Air Conditioning - www.vintageair.com (http://www.vintageair.com/)

My vents are 2 x 5 1/2"  this is what it looks like.  https://www.streetrodhq.com/images_product/large/VENT-8.jpg  Two of my vents have already been replaced.  Also my ducts are 2.5".  Pulled out one of the tubes and measured it as 2 7/16"

Summit has 2.5 x 10' duct for $14.95  https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vta-318010/overview/

Have to do some more research
