OK. I have all of the items necessary for the oil change and the air filter change.
Does the genset slide out for the service? If so,how? I cannot see how to get it to pull out. I see the oil pan screw but it would pour out all over the rubber floor and there is not enough room for a catch pan without it pulled out.

If I remember correctly ... I loosened up the drain bolt and when it was draining half way good with the bolt still installed I went inside and let it drain.. Made a big mess when I tried to remove the bolt and the pressure pushed the oil out to fast and was hitting the pan and getting everywhere.
How do I release the slide tray so the gen set slides out? I need to get it rolled out so I can even get a pan underneath.
There is a 1/2" bolt's on each side, lower front on the tracks. Pull those, it will slide out
My bolts are either 1/4 or 5/16 that's a lot smaller than 1/2.
Maybe a 1/2 inch wrench as our 98 had 5/16 inch bolts holding the gen in place in the rails.
Most likely you will have to disconnect the exhaust pipe before pulling the genny forward. I have a 01 and have to do that if I want to move the genny.
Here's a photo showing the two bolts that must be removed.

And the exhaust.

If this is a four cylinder then it probably won't pull out. I cut a partial circle out of the rubber floor just under the drain and let it go. Leave a flap so you can push the flap back in. Been doing OK for a few years.
The four cylinder Kubota on my '95 U320 pulled out for service without disconnecting anything. Just the two bolts on the track.
Thanks. Those were the bolts! I did get it out and changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter. My NAPA had all of the parts.
The oil was REALLY black. The PO claimed it was changed at 1,315 hours. It is at 1,416 now (101 hours). He was either lying or the shop ripped him off! Either way, it has new oil and a new filter! Whew. I know I can trust MY work.
The lesson here is that when you buy a used coach, go ahead and have all of the service regardless of what someone tells you.
after 100 hours the oil from our kubota is very black also.......
I use Delo 400 15W-40 and napa gold filter
Agree, diesel oil will be very black. One reason you need to change by the recommended hours. You would never be able to tell by the oil color.
Fred,
While you have the generator slid out you need to change the water pump belt if you have the remote radiator. This is especially needed if you have an Isuzu engine as it is a PITA to try to replace the belt setting in a rest area.

Recommended interval for the Isuzu 3 cyl is 50 hours.
My Powertech manual says to change the oil at 250 hrs.

With low sulphur diesel and the better oils that we have today, longer oil change intervals are possible.
