Title: Battery Basics 101
Post by: Paully on August 20, 2017, 04:40:58 pm
Cheers all,

I found an article in the search. But mostly, the archive is more more technical than the problem I have.. found out the new batteries they put in were remanufactured.

Engine battery goes flat in 2 days. I can charge it and get the coach started.. however house batteries appear toast. Nothing works. Not even the rear view monitor after she's running. I can't run the generator yet because I only have 1/4 tank.

I will get new batteries. I trickle chare the engine battery.. I tried to trickle charge the house batteries and one started smoking... what would cause the house battery to steam off like that?

A dead cell will do that.  Charging a 12 VDC battery at 14 is fine.  Charging a 10 VDC battery at 14 will "let the smoke out of it".

Replace them.

But, if no voltage with the engine running, there may be another problem.  But, replace batteries FIRST.

Is there water in them?

Wait a day to put water in, if you have been charging..
