Title: AV Equipment for 2003 U320
Post by: Ed W on September 01, 2017, 01:45:53 pm
I recently removed the front Sony TV. I am planning to install a wireless projector about the coach and project onto a screen pulled down in front of the window.

A few questions about this:
1) has any one else done this already that get share some learning points?
2) I hope to use the original BOSE system for sound and connect a bluray player to it. (not sure what technical challenges that will present. I am not an electronics wizard)
3) related to the original AV setup in the 2003. Is the bedroom TV supposed to be connected to the BOSE system with regard to viewing a DVD that would play on the BOSE? The sound of the BOSE would be of no benefit in the bedroom. I have never even tried to turn the bedroom TV on in the 18 months we have owned the motorhome.
4) I have removed the original satellite because it was not supported by anyone any more. I think I can remove all the antenna wires going to the roof because it is my uninformed opinion that satellite dishes on the roofs of our motorhomes will soon be obsolete. Any thoughts on this question?
5) Related to the bundles of wire up front. I installed See Level tank monitors last year and do not use the old screen display to look at the audit system. The old screen display included a compass. I do not look at that (my phone has a compass). Is the compass that small dome in the front center of the roof? Any reason I should not remove that?
6) Lastly, last year I removed the original antenna and started out on a trip the next day to see that the antenna light was turned on in the dash board and I think an alarm was going off. The only way I found to cancel the light and alarm sound was to reinstall the position sensor that I removed from the antenna (I have it in one of the top cabinets in what would be the down position). Does anyone have a simple solution for removal of the sensor without causing the light or alarm to come on?
Thank you, Ed W

One challenge is that the Bose does not have HDMI.  It can be difficult to find a current bluray player that has the complement of output options to work with the Bose.

Look at the Bose inputs and outputs and map out what you want to do to see what connections you will have available and then see what you can find that will work.

Regarding your dish wires, I wouldn't take these out yet. We just replaced our dead, unsupported dish with a new Direct TV Traveler and added it as a new receiver on our home account.

Unlimited bandwidth via cellular is under attack. The new 'unlimited' plans aren't...it's deceptive marketing. Verizon announced last week that they are going to throttle all steaming on all plans even on the grandfathered unlimited plans. Unless the cellular company's do an about face I think Direct TV and Dish will still be relevant.

One exception so far is the Mobley from ATT's connected car group. It's unlimited for now so I am enjoying it while i can.  Lots of info about it on the forum.

Good luck with your list!
