Title: Vinyl covered button removal
Post by: Fiddler on September 11, 2017, 12:13:51 pm
Interior top of slide is trimmed with a a 90 degree upholstered board along the entire length of the slide.  It appears to be attached with vinyl upholstered round buttons.  I would like to remove this board to get to the slide bladder from inside the coach.  I would guess the covered buttons cover the attaching screws/bolts.  The buttons don't come loose easily and I'm concerned I may break them if forced.  How are they safely  removed without risk of damage?

If they are like my cloth covered buttons they simply snap on. I messed up a couple early on and got some replacements from FOT.

If you take your time prying them off, you should be able to same them.

I had the same experience as Len. I took a small flat screwdriver and pried them off slowly. After the first one went flying, I took some painters tape and covered one side of  the button to keep it from going airborne. That worked pretty well. Once the buttons off you will see the screw

Use an automotive trim tool to easily pop the buttons without damaging the surrounding material.
