Title: Yellow light over door power source
Post by: Dan Stansel on September 12, 2017, 10:02:22 am
Ready to install led strip light under the awning.  Have plastic u strips 16 ft long with 3M UHB strip tape to stick to coach then stick waterproof led light strip into the u plastic strip.  Need power from yellow light.  Cannot figure out how to remove light to get to power wires ????? Any one know.  Installed switch.

Dan,
On our 99 U270, you pull down on the yellow diffuser, and then out. Once open the wires are right there. you could either fish them out from the inside, or I would connect to them there, and run your wire through a hole drilled in the side of the fixture.

Don't forget those wires behind light are only powered when porch light switch is on, or handle is touched.

Tks yes the wires were right there.  They had put caulking over the hole and I had to dig them out. Have installed switch under light so can turn off led lights if not needed.  Will complete job tommorow.  Tks again would never have located wires without ur help.

Dan,
Is the fuse back in the fuse box on the bed?
Don't know, but I would look there.

Good Luck, Dave A

Flip switch and blew fuse again.  Found out two things wrong .  The color code wires were backwards so got everything to work, discovered the used switch was bad and blew yet another fuse.  Going to hardware store tomorrow for fuses and switch.  Know now how to make it work.  Looked great for about 10 minutes.  Got out my hot glue gun to ensure never comes off from wind while going down road.  Also installed a small solar light which has motion sensor so comes on if some one walks by at night.

Dan,
Nice job! Great pix!
When your awning is stowed does it still shine out, or is it hidden behind the top awning?

Thanks,
Len
