Title: Black Tank Sensor
Post by: Bob & Vicki on September 21, 2017, 09:15:52 pm
Hi All,

Our black tank sensor recently would show that our black tank was half full when it was empty. So, we tried a wand down the toilet, RV Digest-it, and then thought, other owners could have had a similar problem. After a search on this forum, we found posts by "Carol & Scott" and "Michelle" that showed pictures of the sensor and the location of the sensor. In less than an hour our black tank sensor was back on line. After emptying the black tank, we removed the sensor, cleaned it and reinstalled it.

Thank you to all posted about this problem. We read all the posts and think that sometime soon we'll be ordering a new sensor. For now all is well.

Thank you again for posting your experiences.

You should be able to go quite a while b/4 You have to clean it again.  Think a replacement  sensor is about $45.  :)

Thanks again, we had no Idea of what it looked like or where it was located.  This was really quite easy to clean.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the reminder, my tank sensor started showing full a couple weeks ago, time to get that project on the list.

Mine shows 1/2 full when it's half empty. Now I have to replace everything!  :))

Just having some fun with you all.

Stump your tank sounds liked it has sludge built up on the sides of the tank. If I remember yours has 2 aluminum strips that go from the top of the tank to the bottom. If it has the probes into the tank like the older coaches had then maybe has tissue hanging up on the probes, might try flushing the inside of the tank with a power flush made for holding tanks.
