Title: ORED carpet replacement
Post by: Old phart phred on September 30, 2017, 10:36:41 pm
So the carpet needs to come out to be replaced with a new wood floors or other materials. It appears all of the cabinets and casework are installed over the carpet and pad, same with headliner which will also be replaced with maybe an ultra low pile carpet on the ceiling. Has anybody ever attempted this. Advice or other options?

Staples!! Thousands & thousands of staples!! Everywhere!! Ceiling & floor!
I removed the carpet in our bathroom, Why anyone would have that crappy blue color shag carpet in the bathroom I don't understand!
One leak from the toilet bowl and it turns a really crappy brown color. Redo it in tile or floating vinyl flooring but seal the wood with about three or four coats of waterproofing. If your commode is on a wooden riser and the heat duct is by your feet, make sure you keep track of the location. If you have the floor arrangement like ours, with the sink on the right, there is a very short step. Under this step is the vent pipe for the sink.
If you have the vinyl ceiling you had best do that first ahead of the floor. The foam on the backside deteriorates with time and combined with the glue the factory used makes a nasty, sticky mess. (and STAPLES!!!)
I put down Allure floating tile flooring, but the stairwell where our stairs are hinged to provide access to the batteries, was beyond my limited abilities to remove the carpet that provides a seal against road noise & dirt, and replace carpet with Allure tiles.

Don't know about the 1989, but on the 1993 they did a great job of NOT putting furniture on top of the carpet. Yes, a few easy to remove pieces, but MUCH better than most manufacturers.

I don't know if you and Dianne did ours, or subbed it out, but, to this day, it looks brand new!  ^.^d
