Title: M11 high idle speed
Post by: bigdog on November 01, 2017, 12:12:44 am
I noticed (by accident) that my coach has two high idle settings. When I turn on the cruise and hit set. It adds 150 RPM to the low idle speed. If I turn on the cruise and hit resume. The idle jumps up to 1350-1400 RPM. Which seems a bit high. All my class 8 trucks high idle speed could be set by bumping the + or - while the cruise is active. My coach does not do this. Is this proper or is my coach an oddball.

That's the way you set fast idle with a Smart Wheel.  My fast idle is 1100rpm.

BD,

Our cruise acts about the same way.  Our high idle is about 1150 rpms though.  You may have a low idle set point under the dash. Here is how you adjust our idle set point and depending on how early of a build you have yours may work the same.

Look under the flip up part of dash that is behind the steering wheel. On the right hand side up next to the windshield there should be 2 switches mounted to a little plate. There will be no labels on them. The one on the left should be a 2 way momentary switch. (or said another way it should toggle up/down and return to center)  This switch will raise/lower your idle speed.  The newer coaches are done through the cruise control, I don't remember when they made the changed. The engine will need to be running and the trans. in neutral to make the switch active.

I feel like an episode of "get smart" It's the ole hidden unlabeled switch under the dash trick. I'll check it out. (next spring after the hibernation cycle  :sleepy:  )Thanks for the help.

Some coaches have 2 switches under the and some with one.  The second switch is for setting the low idle.  My 99 has only one switch.  I set my low idle off of the smart steering wheel.
