Get at least two friends to help.  If they are a lot younger they probably will just ask you to stay out of the way.  Other choice is to have the seller of the new mattress carry off the old one.

I drove the coach to the retailer they took out the old and brought in the new while I watched.

I bought a queen size mattress from the local store and had them deliver it to my coach and take the old mattress out and install the new one.  This way I was able to buy a new mattress that worked better for us.  There was no problem getting it in and out.

What if you want to lose mattress weight in the process. Has anyone tried a lightweight mattress? I think it would be a relief to the gas shocks that hold the bed open when checking the engine. Mattresses are pretty heavy and seem like a good place to lose weight.

We bought a mattress in a box . Medium memory foam. Love it, Bought the king  for the house.
Our bus had the OE spring  box in it and I had to cut it in half to get it out.
