filled up about two weeks ago and drove home. Went out yesterday to look at space surrounding filler opening. Trying to determine if filler surround will remove with just the screws that hold that assembly on. loosend the filler cap and got doused with fuel. Should this happen? Pressure from return line?? After two weeks?? The black area around the filler opening is riveted to thematerial that is screwed to the body....

Still fiddlin' with the door that broke it's plastic hinge pins.
Vented fuel cap replaced with non-vented one?
Does your tank have a vent line. (not familiar with that part of the ORED). The other Foretravel models of that vintage do have a vent line-- comes out on passenger's side of front bulkhead just inboard of the tire/vertical brace.
For what it is worth, Brett, my 1989 ORED has the vent line just under the fuel cap. If one removes the fuel cap the hole is visible.
Fill the tank up when it is cold. Open the cap when the fuel is warm---expansion of fuel & air in tank. Had it happen to me at Fredricksburg City CG in OK. Only thing saved me from a "big" bath was that my hose clamp was a tad loose so fuel was seeping out on the inside of the filler wall mount.
Norm,
Yes, have seen that-- fill all the way with cold fuel. Park it and with temperature rise, fuel expands and pukes out. Don't know about on ORED's, but on other Foretravels, it can "piddle" on the front bulkhead from the vent line.
Thanks ,folks - I'll look it over. Sounds like it shouldn't do that...
