Title: Air tank Screech.
Post by: Carol & Scott on December 10, 2017, 12:27:28 pm
When building air I have recently heard a screeching sound that appears to come from the Air Pressure Switch on the Front Brake Left Tank.  Can feel the vibration when holding the switch while the screeching occurs.  Could be wrong.

I presume I should replace this switch.  Anyone know the part # for this switch that is attached to the air brake tanks?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

What pressure does it occur at? Mine makes a noise when the chech valves on the front tanks start opening around 70 lbs or so.

Probably about the same.  70#+/-.

The noise only lasts not even a minute until the pressure equalizes.

Thanks for your response.

That is true but I had not heard it on my 2002 36' just recently on our 2001 42'.  It is ugly.

@Scott have you tried spraying the switch with soapy water to see if it's leaking any air? That could be your noise. You could also try pulling the switch, clean the treads, apply sealer, and reinstall. You "might" get lucky... :)

see ya
