Title: Head Light Switch 1995 U-240
Post by: POPPASMURFF#1 on December 13, 2017, 09:09:37 am
Well still working the bugs out of Clarabell.

Head lights worked when I picked her up, as I walked around and looked at them.

On the trip home I turned on the switch as it was getting dusk and no head lights just clearance and parking lights.

Got her home and found a gremlin had connected a wire to the hot side of the cigarette lighter ran it to the ether switch then to the head lights. Reason being the switch was bad.

BUT I HAD LIGHTS ON MY WALK AROUND LOL

New switch, Auto Zone (Duralast number SW144) $18.19 plus tax.

Installation time 1 cup of coffee

Ahh yes - "custom" wiring modifications.  Undocumented, of course.  One of the things that makes buying a pre-owned coach so...interesting.  :headwall:

PS: I pity the fool who finally inherits our coach (over my dead cold body)...they are in for a treat!

:o Yeah its definitely an Eye opener when you delve into a coach that is 22 years old.

Good part about my findings thus far, is that it is a 1 owner coach and his baby and he was anal about the specs and doing things by the book.

The jury rig was done by some novice not PO at the dealership I imagine

I would really hate to embark on the adventure of a coach that has been owned by several owners  :P

We are lucky owners number 5!  :o

(Fortunately, the previous 4 keepers made very few mods - our coach was 99% "factory" configuration when we lucked into it.)

Ya, over the years of doing coach inspections, have run into some very "interesting" modifications.

Some questionable, but quite a number excellent and with documentation added to the owners manuals.

I KNOW (ya capital KNOW) I made quite  number of modifications to our 1993 U240-- all documented.  It a word, it "ain't stock", particularly the suspension and parts of the 12 VDC electrical system.

Joseph's 1995 U240 is a very unique beast.  The only year the U240 was wide body and last year of the U240 model.  And, from the pictures, the dash area electrical system was similar to the Unicoaches rather than all earlier year models (breakers on panel in front of passengers seat rather than fuses under left side of flip up dash). A very good thing he got all the original documentation!

When we first bought ours, it freaked me out how many modifications had been done, but having a ton of info calmed me down.
All of the work was for a better reason than factory, as it turned out. It was a year later that I joined the forum and learned who had owned ours at one time. Jeez, it was none other than boy genius, Brett Wolfe! A stroke of luck for me, she runs great.  ^.^d
