My current project is organizing my entertainment cabinet to the right of the TV. I found this "box" that was plugged into the power strip and can't identify it. It has two small wires going into it that appear to switch power to an outlet on the box. The TV is plugged into that. I'm trying to understand why the TV power is dependent on something else. Any ideas?

interlock, tv will not work if ignition on.
It may turn the tv off with the key on.
That would account for the wires heading "south". Thanks for the information. I hate not knowing what something is for.
Just opend mine up. There is a small relay inside. I turned on the ingition and verified that power is switched off.
