Title: Beautiful little reading lights
Post by: Old phart phred on December 14, 2017, 11:52:33 pm
So my coach has 8 of these beautiful little wooden adjustable reading lamps. One of which works. They use the same type of bulb as my clearance lights, which also suck. Bought new LED clearance lights. What are my options for the reading lights? They seem to be a constant source of frustration,

I have one above the drivers chair. I replaced the bulb with a press in LED, works great.

Fred : Have same lights. Some numbers that will help you out below. When taking out old bulbs be careful. couple broke off and had to use needle nose pliers to get out the base. Cut my finger on one pretty good. We use them when watching TV mainly. Just enough light to get around by. Put the number for bath vanity light there as well. Hugh difference, brighter and uses 1/10 power.

I have 2 of those in my coach, driver and passenger.  Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.  The driver's light is tied in with the headlight switch, rotate the knob for on and off, also has it's own switch to make it even more confusing when trying to get it on.

Haven't had any problems with these lights in our 91 GV, wonder if they are the same manufacturer.  I do ,however, have problems with running lights that use this same bulb.  It is not the bulb in my case, it is the base.  I feel like changing them out with some thing more reliable, but havn't gotten there yet.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

Please note LED bulbs are directional. Since they are diodes. If the blade type bulbs don't work one way rotate them a hundred eighty degrees and try again. The electricity through them can only flow one way.

Fred : On the LED replacement driving lights. Got a number I can look at? Also are they plug and play or is a lot of adaptation required? Pretty sure we both have the same set up.

Thanks, Steve

Steve I bought the auxbeam 36w Cree 30° spotlights. Pretty sure they will pull less amps in the Hella driving lights. So it should be Plug and Play. It was only in the mid twenties last couple of days so I haven't installed them yet. They were about 30 bucks for pair with free shipping. Housing seems well made with the lenses are plastic. I think Chuck and jeanie did a write up on these.

Gold star led vanity lights are awesome really brighten up the bathroom. My little reading lights it appears that I had four bad switches. Hopefully I can find a switch at Ace Hardware.
