Title: Removing overhead in front
Post by: Balcanthez on December 18, 2017, 03:47:06 pm
Hi all, decided to do a cell booster install in the original cell antenna location (front cap in the center). I'm expecting the wire runs on top of the overhead above the driver/passenger seats. Has anyone removed this and if you have, are the wires accessible by pulling the overhead section?

On my '99 I found the cell wire in the dog house under dash.

I was going to do the same on my 95 but I found it too difficult to get to the existing antenna. When I removed the ceiling carpet I found solid fiberglass with no access point. I wasn't able to reach up far enough from the front cabinets. The only way I saw was to drill an access hole in the overhead fiberglass. Rather than doing that I ended up putting it in the back. Easy access and a good cable route to the bedside cabinet. I installed the hardware in there (Sleek and a double 12 vdc outlet).

See! THAT's why this forum is so valuable! Jor, you saved me anguish and time. Will look at using your setup or another alternative (really want it forward).

If you have a helper you can probably fish it through there. I too think forward is better.

I attached my cell booster antenna to the mast of my Winegard TV Antenna (too dark for a photo), drilled a hole in the roof right above the Driver Side Overhead Cabinet and dropped the antenna wire in that cabinet to connect to my Wilson Antenna Booster. I ran the Wilson power wire around the corner and connected it to coach 12V system. I placed a Wilson "Doorbell" style antenna in the drivers front overhead cabinet to fill the coach with the boosted cell signal.

Keep in mind that this is on a Grand Villa.
