I am trying to figure out the letter index for my engine, it is a 1997 ?, C8.3, 325hp.
I have seen on Wikipedia where it was not produced until 1998 but my coach was built in May 1997.
Would it be an ISB?
Thanks

Yes, mechanical, C8.3, and on the plate you will see the HP. You will find this engine plate on the front of your engine facing out as you open the back. I took this picture right after buying my U295 so I could sign up on QuickServe, July 2017, ohhh....., look close at the picture, I wish I'd seen that crack below the hose fitting, it would have saved me much aggravation I had prior to replacing all the fuel lines. You will need this info often when ordering parts for your Cummins. You will want to sign up for this useful, free, for owners site. Thanks jcus, that is what I was looking at. in looking at the brochures they just say it is a C8.3 but dont show any letter designation that a several places use for selecting aftermarket parts.

I have the same engine in my 98 270. It's a mechanical 8.3 rated at 325 hp for fire truck and rv service. Bosch mechanical injection and has a good reputation for long service.
