Title: For anyone interested in helping me understand my park brake system...
Post by: Jim Sizemore on December 24, 2017, 02:41:39 pm
Please take a look at my postings of "Parking brake update" posted 2 months ago, as I am still searching for answers. I cannot make sense of how they keep my park brake from activating with each  service brake operation (unless that tw 11 valve does this?)

My brake holds slightly better than it used to but I think it's because we learned to apply more service brake pedal pressure? Still have not replaced shoes (using wheel chocks) but WILL do so in future. coach sits at home most of time, 'cause I don't know haw fat to trust it. Son took it for about 200 mi. and was pleased with its performance (especially going up the hill from Cookvilel, TN to Monterey). I wanted to take it to the Q last  January but chickened out. Took the Econoline camper instead. Over heated until Van Horn on the trip back.

Thanks, MIke(or whoever) but my brakes are juice operated. I "think" the selection of service/park  is done with that tw11 valve. The instructions in the manual have me shift to neutral before activating same...

Mike - I somehow deleted your comment and wanted to re read it. Don't know how I can delete your comment. If you know how to re post, please do so...

I looked at the "more" button and maybe one can delete others post. If I did that, it was unintentional.

Jim has a Oshkosh V-22 chassis with hydraulic disk brakes, and probably leaf springs. Jim is your parking brake mounted on the transmission?

It is a drum brake around the drive shaft just as it comes out of the transmission on its way to the rear differential. Michelle posted them for me two months ago in my park brake update thread.*the one I asked to be reviewed when I started this thread...

I have made several posts while I'm trying to learn how this system operates that have failed to show up. I think I realized today that sometimes I get ahead of myself and close out at night and forget to hit the "post" button? I believe that freightliner kinda made sense of it to me and that email was posted here in the discussions 2 months ago. That's where they mentioned the tw 11 valve.
It IS the V22 chassis but I "think" it has drum brakes on rear axle? It does have leaf springs.

Jim again....
