On my 2005 36' U270, my TDI RV 5036 Shoreline electric power cord reel is not engaging. I can hear the motor making a humming noise, but their is no movement of the reel. There is no attempt by the gears to engage. I can reel the chord in by turning the reel manually. The reel turns easily. The 50 amp shore power is still passing thru the reel, as all systems in the coach are working properly. The voltage read out on the display above the kitchen counter is 122 volts each leg. I am in a very friendly, South Florida 70 degree climate, and the batteries are fully charged. Before today, I never had a problem with the reel. I don't mind taking the reel out, just don't know what to do with it once removed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
It sounds like the small, plastic drive gear is stripped. That is a challenge to disassemble and reassemble, let alone find the replacement part. The manual may show the part or contact the manufacturer. Taking it apart to do the replacement may involve removing many rivets with a lot of patience.
The same is true to replace the electrical contacts or the power cord so be sure to evaluate the electrical contacts for excessive wear.
I did mine last year; it is doable if you are mechanically inclined.
For my brand, I finally found a Googled gear for a ridiculously high price of $78. - no parts were available otherwise. I have a feeling most owners simply buy a new reel and cable for $650. It is not a total loss, the old cable certainly can be used to make a 50 amp extension cord.
You might list your name and coach information in your posts.

Mine did the same and I repaired with the replacement gear. took about an Hour to hour and a half to remove and replace.. Yes the part is a little expensive but a whole lot cheaper than a new unit.
