There was a thread recently regarding head banging avoidance. Anyhow, yesterday I decided to grease the 270 and got to use my new head bang avoidance device (HBAD). It's a hard hat ball cap and it works great.

Not a true hard hat, but cushions somewhat. Main reason I wear is to not have to use Lava soap to clean my hair after working under truck or coach. Turn the bill to the back and they don't fall off and the bill lets you put your head down without getting dirty.

I try to remember (try is the important word here) to put on my welders cap especially when crawling into the basement. Every wire tie was clipped off and left hanging down is such a way as to scrape a furrow of scalp each time I get near one. I have slowly discovered each one and after some words of praise turned them up and mop up the blood.
When I go all in into the basement Susan sets up the folding chairs and sells tickets to the contortionist show.
Here's my old HBAD rig.

We do that when we can't get the others. Just put your name & the name of the park with the PO address it's being sent to.
Every time I open the basement doors I accept the fact that I WILL scalp myself!
My most disliked feature of the coach.
Welder cap could be the go to fashion when planning on opening the basement doors.
Good thread. I am going to order some head protection myself.
I found Skullerz 8960 Bump Caps, available in micro brim, short brim, or long brim visors, and also LED light built into the brim as an option. Amazon and EBay have them, as well as other vendors. A bit more $$ than some of the other head protection listed above.
I think the short visor model is my preference, with LED lights.

Might just as well wrap your head in bandages and then go into the basement.
