Title: Bay drawers removal
Post by: John Morales on February 28, 2018, 10:57:45 am
Anyone know how these bay drawers slide out.  Drawer slides are from Accuride.  Went to their website and no help.  I need to remove the drawer to work on the Aqua Hot.  This job is beginning to be a big PIA.  Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks, John M.

Look at the slides with the drawer all the way out. There should be a thin finger on each side that can be pushed up or down to release the drawer. However, removing the drawer will still leave the frame in the way. Do you plan on removing that too?

I have the same model and just leave the drawers in place when working on the AquaHot and yes it is a pain. So is the joey bed mount, so bring a blanket to lay over it if have the bed.

We had one of those in our storage bay which I moved to the front bay over the LP tank. While in the process i posted the same question on the forum and came to the conclusion that the drawer was not removable from the assembly as is the usual case with the accuride drawer slides. I had to remove the whole assembly and even while I had it out on the bench in front of me, I couldn't see any way to separate the drawer from the surrounding sheetmetal. Truly a PITA to work with...If you find a way to take the drawer out by itself short of drilling out rivets, I will be interested to know how you did it, assuming your drawers are made the same as mine. They look identical, so I assume they are.

They release and pull all the way out.  There are two tracks bolted to the ceiling.

Same here. I took it out as a unit and examined it closely on the bench. Matter of fact, it ended up mounted under that same bench!

I ended up taking it out as a unit. I called the company that makes the drawer unit and they said that the drawer does not slide off of the track.  It is a sealed slide.  If you tried to slide it out you will have a disaster with all of the balls falling out of the slide rail.  See picture.
