I have a Foretravel 2006 Phenix and I am trying to have the step retract while it
is in storage. The step retracts while the ignition key is on and door is closed
but I have no idea how to get it to retract while it is setting in storage and not being
used. Hopefully someone on the forum can offer some advice.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Larry, use the "serch' Function in the upper right hand corner and serch for "step bypass". Many posts on this subject.
Our 2004 U270, with one step, worked like that. Once the key was turned off, and the door was opened, the step stayed out until the key was turned on and the door was shut. There was no provision to shut the step with the key off. It worked that way from the factory.
I believe they all work like that unless installed a bypass switch.
Larry, I think your steps are electric. If you can find the wiring diagram for them there should be a switch you can add that will make the steps work as they do with the ignition off as they do when it is on.
Our steps (not OEM) work that way. Manual attached.

Help With Kwikee Step Switch To Keep Steps In (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=27763.msg228185#msg228185)
I do have an unmarked switch that is located next to the step cover control switch
that is by the co-pilot seat near the a/c heater controls for the co-pilot.
However, It does not seem to affect anything and I have no idea what it does
since it is not labelled.
My personal opinion on controlling the operation of this step to over ride the existing
controlling protocols would be to have it operate using the keyless entry system.
It would simultaneously lock all of the bay doors, lock the entry door and, if the switch was
activated, retract the step.

I am going back over to the storage facility today to see if I can use the unloader valve
on the air feed to retract it.
thanks for all of the help.

Larry, here is our solution to keep outside step up with igniton off:
Modify outside air step wiring to allow step to retract when ignition is off... (https://wiki.foreforums.com/doku.php?id=house:steps:airstep)
