Where oh where might the 12v air-compressor be hiding on my 97 U270?
I left the leveling system on and with motor off I bleed the air down with the brakes but I never heard it come on. I tried looking on all the compartments but did not see it.

Should be hid behind you inverter/converter on the same shelf. The breaker for it is a manual rest one behind the fiberglass cover on your basement wall in the big bay. On your coach the 12vdc compressor has nothing to do with re filling the air you used pumping the brake pedal. It's sole function is for keeping the HWH supplied with air when it goes through the re leveling check.
On edit: If the coach is out of level when the HWH comes on(to do it's 30 minute check), for it (HWH) to do it's thing then the compressor should come on and supply air for re leveling.

Thanks Mike, guess I should have bleeding the bags then.
I guess my theory was good by bleeding air to get it to come on but I was bleeding with the wrong thing. If this is the biggest mistake I make with the coach I will be tickled pink ^.^d

Did you find the 12vdc compressor? Seems like you have mentioned that you don't have a lot of coach info (like coach prints) but the air system is on print B-2193 if you have it.

Your right Mike, one thing you can be sure of is that I will never say I know it all about these coaches :))
I dont have B-2193 but it is shown on G-2208 but that shows it between the 3 air tanks :o

Adding to Mike's comments, you can "force" the HWH aux compressor to run by pushing the "RAISE" arrow on your HWH panel. If the system air pressure is below about 60-100 psi (depends on the rating of your low pressure switch) and you ask the HWH panel to raise the coach, it should run the aux compressor as it tries to satisfy your request.
Procedure:
1. With engine not running, bleed main system pressure down to 60 psi by pumping the brake pedal (you already did that).
2. Turn HWH panel "ON" (Push "AIR" button one time)
3. Push "RAISE" button
4. Listen! - you should hear the aux pump running, and (eventually) the coach should start to rise up.
5. The increase in air pressure from the aux compressor may or may not show on your dash air gauges (depends on model/year coach)
6. If you don't hear the compressor and the coach doesn't rise up, then you have a malfunctioning aux air compressor.
