Title: Air Pressure Annunciator always on
Post by: Mike_Sandra_Lloyd on April 08, 2018, 11:08:59 am
Starting the unit yesterday (air pressure started from zero, as I have the unit blocked to maintain level without using the HWH system  - another problem to be solved soonish since it appears as if the 12V compressor is not kicking in).
Air pressure rose as expected with the chime going, as usual, and the compressor went into 'unload' mode at 120, as usual -- but the annunciator continued to chime regardless of air pressure. It had 'fluttered' briefly at about 90psi, then continued making noise.  HWW was off with no red lights, nor green Travel system lights on.  The chime continued with park/spring brakes engaged or not.
My first guess is that a pressure switch that should cut out after 90 psi is achieved - is no longer working.
Q: My first question is, where do I find the wee beasty to check wiring or replace?
A (perhaps) related issue is that lately I lose air pressure more quickly (it was at 120 then 8 hours later it was at about 60 then 8 hours after that it is about 30) so I have a slow leak somewhere that needs to be found, as well as getting the aux. compressor to kick-in as needed.

Woody,

I think the signal for that "Air Pressure" alarm comes off the pressure switch on your rear 6-pack manifold.  The switch is normally closed (NC).  Try removing one wire from the switch.  If the alarm goes silent, then that switch is your problem.

The travel light will not come on until the pressure switch opens, breaking the ground circuit.

Are you sure it is the air pressure causing the buzzer or maybe the tv antenna is up.

I was going to suggest the same thing.  The annunciator is used for several different things including the check engine light..

The fact that the HWH "travel" light would not come on, even after air compressor unload, suggests HWH system is not happy.

And..... once again Chuck the Wizard is right! Thanks! I disconnected the ground wire from the rear six-pack solenoid block (to assess if my problem was indeed the system pressure switch)... and no change... but I proceeded to raise the beast, remove all my interframe steel leveling blocks and proceeded to level as per the usual routine.  The chiming stopped!
Into 'Travel mode, and still no chiming!
So, Chuck, the HWH system was indeed unhappy about the blocks and its programming working at cross-purposes, and it was letting me know. So I am relieved.
Thanks all for your suggestions.  I am very happy that the solution was simple. My high anxiety at 4AM this morning about scrambling to get something like a replacement HWH touch-pad (my imagination usually goes to the worst possible scenario) delivered to here in BC and installed in time for us to meet our deadline and move off our 6 month camping spot by 11:00 AM on Friday - was too extreme.  Relaxing a bit now as we just have the regular chores to complete before moving down the road.
Once again - I have great appreciation for the existence of this forum, and the fellowship and assistance of all in Foretraveldom!
