Title: Very Excellent Sewer Hookup
Post by: jor on April 15, 2018, 07:04:43 pm
I replaced my Valtera setup with a Lippert. Works great. The hose attaches with a cam lock instead of the bayonet. The hose interior is smooth instead of ribbed. The 90 that goes into the dump is permanently attached, has a sight glass and a ball valve.

You will have to keep the door open?

Can you put up a picture with the door closed?

Are you guys referring to the flap or the compartment door? It all works just as it did before. My only modification was to eliminate the little brass slider latch on the flap and replace it with a couple of magnets to hold the flap in place. Otherwise, it's just like it was with the valtera.

Oh, wait a minute. I see what you mean. I only use the sewer hose to dump. Never leave it hooked up. If If I did I would have cut the ABS pipe further back.

The cam locks on these lipperts are sweet. i use them where i work, and are great. we just have to make sure we lock the ears down so they don't come loose. we use 3 inch diaphragm pumps when pumping and the vibration will cause the ears to work themselves open. But for this use should be fine.

Not to throw cold water on the "cam lock" system, but I chose not to convert ours when I reworked our water bay. I do believe it's a better system or orthwise why would the big guys like fuel tankers and sani dump people use them.          My reasoning was the camlock fittings are not near as common so you won't find replacement parts all over the place. Everybody has the twist lock fittings ( rv supply stores, rv park offices or most fellow RVers) but fewer places seem to have cam lock replacement stuff.
When we stayed overnite at Oregon Motor Coach they had dumping facilities but the hose was permanently attached to the on site receptacle. With a cam lock I would not have been able to use it. ( with an adapter ?)
Also when we had our coached washed the guys doing the washing stepped on my sewer hose ( we rarely leave it connected but that time I did). At first I thought the hose would leak where it was crushed      But it didn't , maybe a lessor quality hose might have. Point is, I'd of had to buy a complete hose and cut off the fittings to replace just the hose.  Seems there are more do dads for twist lock also.  JMHO.

My coach came with the whole system including the nozzle when I purchased it. I bought the adaptor sold for where the old type was needed and carry it.

I'm thinking that large end with the gate valve ? ,  doesn't come off. So where I store ours wouldn't work.    Where do you store your hose Craneman ?

At this time just like Ron did when he owned the coach, in a plastic bag in the bay without the joey bed. A future upgrade for this is in line, a long line. Look for a post from Don he shows the whole install. Picture below

I believe this is the topic that Craneman is referring to;
Utility Bay 2.0, Part 1- WasteMaster Camlock Sewer Hose Install (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=21231.msg157491#msg157491)
I still love the set up and seldom leave the hose out hooked up to the sewer more than a day or two, generally when doing laundry at a full hook up site. It is so easy to dump and stow that I don't mind dumping as necessary. With the SeeLevel tank gauges, I can see ahead of time and plan the dumps for convenience.

Damn, I wish my wet bay looked like Don's!  :D  Anyhow, for a quick install you just saw, file or sand off the bayonet nubs on your coach pipe and glue on the Lippert fitting with ABS glue. I store mine in a sealed bin in a (actually, the) compartment. I would do as Don did but on the 34' the compartment bulkhead that separates the water tank from the waste tanks extends to the front of the compartment. I might just notch it. Have to think about that.

Thank you cranemant and jor for your post.  The Lippert Waste Master now for me appears to be an excellent upgrade and prevents future leaks.  I just replaced my "Flush King", and so no leaks at the present.  When I install the black water tank flush (to replace the "Flush King") I will update to the Lippert Waste Master kit and the separately sold adapter.

Nothing is more embarrassing, or possible damage causing, to basement area than a leak at the wet bay.

Our coach also came with them. Had a slight problem with the grey water pass  by. Wasn't redirecting the grey water from the shower or washer . Apparently wasn't hooked up correctly, fixed at FOT in October. Otherwise they work well as long as the operator remembers to close them. I carry concentrated bleach to clean everything with. Also works well for making a strong solution to pour on a tiny spill if it occurs.

I installed them 2 yrs ago on our coach. One of the sensors that shows the valve is open  does not go out so little  magnetic "reed" switch inside must have come loose.
I am thinking of tying my 2 drain lines together to form 1 tank like new ones (when I get time that is)
