1998 U-320 36' M11 Celect Plus
I need to replace tires and am looking at the Michelin XZE2 instead of the XZA3+. Does anyone have experience with the XZE2 tires?
My understanding is the XZE2 is has a thicker sidewall curb guard, and more siping. It appears to be designed to handle scuffs on the sidewall better than the OTR designed XZA3+. We do a lot of camping in tight quarters so the thicker sidewall design is appealing to me.
It is available in a G and H load rating with a max speed of 75 MPH.
Thank you,
Chris
I purchased six new XZE's 3 years ago and for the same reason as you describe. I really like them but can't give you a comparison as to the ride compared to the OTR designed XZA's.
stronger sidewalks were more important to me than the softer ride. A few pounds of air pressure probably makes a bigger difference than the XZE vs XZA tire.
Others will chime in with more experience than I can provide.
Likely they all feel the same. FYI, XZA3+ are no longer available.
We recommend only Load range H. Can't have too much strength, especially when air pressure is lower than optimum from cold temps, higher altitudes, cornering, loading and other situations.
Thank you both for your replies. It is much appreciated.
This would explain why the Michelin Advantage dealers I've called don't have them in stock, and aren't showing them as available in the distribution center.
The XZE2 are in stock around here, so can get either G or H load range.
Thanks,
Chris
