Title: Where do I begin
Post by: bigdog on April 20, 2018, 01:44:32 pm
I find that I don't have power to my entertainment/TV in the front of the coach. I have 120 at the panel by the fridge. I have 120 at every outlet that I can find. But not at the TV. The breaker to the TV at the foot of the bed is on. Nothing behind the TV has been touched in 18 months and has worked fine. The system was working on our last trip just prior to storage for the winter.

I'm not sure where to even start. Any ideas?

I'm beginning to think my coach doesn't like me.

Does FT put in a relay to kill power to the tv when the ignition is on?  That's pretty common on other brands.
I'd try to find that relay (possibly behind the false panel in front of passenger seat) and make sure that is working.

Do you have power at the tv outlet?  There is also usually a device at the outlet that cuts power when the ignition is on. That may be working if you have the coach running or failed in the off position if you don't.

A trick my DW Mary taught me:
Get your vacuum sweeper. Test that it is on by plugging it into a working circuit.
Then leave it on but plug it in the TV outlet.
Now you have a very quick (& noisy) response to power when it comes to that outlet.
Relying on a TV that isn't instant on & working isn't practical because of the fact that you have to be watching the set as it takes a few seconds to display anything on the screen and make "noise". Hard to do when you are concentrating on circuits and looking elsewhere.

Jerry,
OEM, you had to remove the TV from its cabinet/surround to gain access to the ignition ON "triggered", 120 Vac removal (DOT required) relay.
The relay was just plugged into the 120 Vac outlet, behind the TV.
HTH,
Neal

And when you find it, throw it in the trash.

It was a loose plug behind the TV.

My coach (being from Canada) had a Huges Canadian Satellite system. So I met up with a Canadian U320 owner who had a D-TV system. We hired a sat tech to do the swap. The tech likely didn't get the plug fully seated and it took this long to rattle loose. Which is OK. Could have been worse.

Now to figure out why no power to the LNB. The coach is now with a satellite install tech to figure that one out.

It's always something isn't it?

Thanks for the help guys.

Looks like the Winegard traveler I got from Canada on a swap was a dead one. At least that Canadian guy got a working Huges dish and reciever. ^.^d  Caveat Emptor.
