Title: 120 Volts AC at dash?
Post by: folivier on May 01, 2018, 07:22:41 pm
Anyone know if there is a 120 Vac source inside of the dash area?
I want to plug in a small fan to circulate air on the middle console.  I know there is 120Vac in the overhead cabinets for the tv & stereo, etc.  Where does that wire run down to?
Thanks

I am not sure about yours but our 2001 has a 120v outlet at the base of the column where the thermostat is located.  The 120v feeds through the driver's side overhead cabinets and down through the column.  There is no 120v wiring in our dash.

If it is a small low power fan there are many small inverters tht can hook up to power behind the panel in front of the passenger's seat.

Pure sine wave inverters will be most compatible with electronics.  There are cheaper modified sine wave inverters too.  And there are smaller ones as well.  Find the most efficient one possible.

Thanks Roger.  I'll look for it tomorrow.  I have a 12 vdc fan that I can use when driving but want the more powerful one while parked & plugged in.

We ran a heavy duty long extension cord from outlet on street side behind and below driver chair, through the side console up to dash.  On dash we have a 120v power strip.  There is another 120v outlet above dash for the TV etc.  We have another power strip up there for DVRs, TV etc

We have one of each of these fans in the coach.  The taller one oscillates, three speeds, remote control, quiet. Lies on the bed when we travel.  Easy to move around.  Just a bit of air movement makes a huge difference.

And one of these 3 speed ~12" fans that sits well on the floor when we are driving.

Roger, I have that same Honeywell which is what I want to put on the console.  I also have a neat fan I got from Walmart that works on 8 D cells, 120Vac and 12Vdc with an adapter.  That one fits on the shelf of the vanity in the bedroom.

Great to move A/C air towards windshield in the summer and warm air towards the windshield in the winter.  Metal Blade 12-Volt Fan - Direcsource Ltd 69082 - Fans - Camping World (https://www.campingworld.com/metal-blade-12-volt-fan?rrec=true)

Not sure on yours but ours has an outlet on the drivers side wall just to the left of the seat about 15" up.

We plug in a VORNADO Fan behind the driver's seat.  We park the fan under the center console table. We tilt it on angle and the air spreads nicely bouncing off of the table.  We run the power around and behind the pedals and down the left side of the driver's seat.

Found it right where y'all said it was.  Hiding in plain sight like my DW tells me.
