Title: Transmission high heat alarm
Post by: Chris m lang on May 03, 2018, 09:19:23 pm
Can anyone tell me at what temperature the high heat alarm comes on?  Ours came on today in the mountains in Virginia
I was watching gauge and it never got over 200 degrees
Any help appreciated
Chris

It could be a bad sending unit on the drivers side of the transmission. If it beeps continuously, you can unhook the sensor and see if it goes off. If not you might need to have it checked by an Allison dealer. Chris, if you need to talk, call me.

Also if you were using the retarder that may have caused the alarm to come on and not show on the gauge it was that hot.

Thanks guys I'll check it out. I had used lower gears and retarder before with no alarm, but to was for a shorter time
There was a couple of hills with 6%grade that were 1-1/2 to 2 miles long they definitely didn't waste money on trying to flatten the hills
Thanks Lynn if I have problems I'll give you a call— are you guys going any where this summer?
Chris
