When we're running down the road with generator on and stop for lunch do we need to stop generator and turn off a/c before stopping engine? And reverse when restarting the engine?
No, the two are independent of each other.
The only recommendation is that when you do turn off the generator, is to turn off heavy loads 5 minutes or so before shutting it down to allow cool down time.
I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but a old timer gen set pro told me to shut everything down load by load, and wait a few minutes in between. It's worked for me on three different coaches, so I do it! ^.^d
Always good policy with any fueled engine to allow a cool-down period after operating with a load. Why are you turning it off when stopping for lunch?

Dash air doesn't work?
Stopped at the side of the road for lunch.
Dash air works great, except in 95° Florida heat and humidity.
We leave the engine and generator running when we stop for lunch. I don't stop the engine until we are finished driving for the day.
"15 min. up, 15 min. down". ^.^d
WAY too long according to Caterpillar, Cummins, etc.
Doubt anyone will find a 15/15 recommendation from an engine manufacturer.
I turned mine on when I pulled out of the garage and shut it off when I hit either Iowa or SD as our first stop. Then back on till Washington State and did the reverse on the way home.
