Correct me if I am wrong, can't I run a 120 v compressor on the batteries without shore power or generator? How long should 2 8d batteries be good for?
Larry
It would depend on the compressor, and you would need an inverter that can provide the necessary power
If you have a modified sine wave inverter, some electric motors don't like it. You just need to try it.
I don't see why not although one of those little compressors will hit those batteries pretty hard. Similar to running a microwave, hair dryer or vacuum cleaner. With two 8Ds you probably have around 500 amp hours. Just need to ID your batteries and look up their capacity. Then divide that in half as it's good practice not to deplete them below 50%.

To be on the safe side, why not just run either gen or coach engine while using the 120 volt compressor (pushing amps in as they are used by the compressor).
I've been tempted to buy a high end 12 volt compressor, and tie to tow car battery while running tow car engine. For now, I run the Cummins and tie into dry coach air to top up tires.
Thanks for the comments all, I will take the compressor down and try it. Hopefully it will run my impact quickly enough to break the starter bolt and not have to run the compressor long. If need be, I will bring the house batteries back to the house and put them on charger again to insure that they are charged after. I have purchased 120W worth of solar panels which I plan on temporarily installing on the roof to keep the house batteries charged while in storage. Just received an Amp-l-start charger to keep the start battery up to snuff. Wasn't planning on putting these on until the coach was running and the new tires were installed. Lots happening, just trying to get all the ducks in a row.

Larry, you might start with a fell compressor, that will lessen the load on the front end!

I think you would need a volume tank to run an impact wrench, don't think pressure alone would run it.
I have s small pancake compressor which I will use. It runs the impact well, but can empty the tank pretty quick.
Thanks guys,
Larry
"break the starter bolt" ?????
"bring the house batteries back to the house and put them on charger again" ? ? ?
This is a spinoff of a thread about removing the starter on a M-11 and needing air pressure to break the back bolt loose.
Just an update, Ran my 120 v air compressor off of the batteries. Checked voltage before, 90%. Ran compressor <5 minutes down to 65%. No bueno. The batteries are back at the house being charged. Don't want to ruin brand new batteries.
