Title: Heads Up For When Replacing Headlight & Parking Light Assemblies in 2003 FT
Post by: Travelin' Man (RIP) on May 19, 2018, 11:36:08 am
I am in the process of replacing both the headlight and parking light assemblies on my '03 FT.  The assemblies are for a '99 - '02 Chevy Silverado and there are both OEM and numerous aftermarket replacements available.

I ran into a problem with the aftermarket ones yesterday.  After replacing the headlight and reinstalling the complete assembly
back into the coach I tried putting the parking light back in but it really didn't fit.  The brand name is VISION, and upon close inspection I found that the curvature of the VISION light is less than the old one I removed.  So, I removed the parking light assembly from my '01 Silverado pickup to compare it to the other two and found it to be the same curvature as the old one from the FT.  Both the old one and the one from my pickup are TYS brand and appear to have OEM fit.

I bought the VISION kit which contains all four lights, and since the headlights fit fine I hate to have to R&R them again just to be able to return the entire kit.  I thought maybe I could use the VISION parking lights in my pickup but they really don't fit it either.

My advice if and when you are replacing these lights is either go with GM (EXPENSIVE) or TYS aftermarket, and stay away from VISION.

Bought these,  with matching turn signals, appear to be well made. Amend my OP;

KHC parking lights don't fit.

VISION good fit but lenses are trashed in 3 years on my truck. UV damage not high mileage, only about 15,000.

TYC (not TYS) good fit,  finish and durable to UV.

Been using this for years, really protects the plastic headlights etc. Meguiar's PlastX clear plastic cleaner and polish G12310 - Read Reviews on... (https://www.autozone.com/wash-cleaners-and-exterior-care-products/polish/meguiar-s-plastx-clear-plastic-cleaner-and-polish/419400_0_0)

I use a site called "carid" you put your vehicle in and it comes up with every aftermarket part for it.

I bought head lights for my 02 Chevy truck on rock auto.com. Multiple brands to choose from. Almost a year and a half old and still look good

Jim,

I looked a few months ago at the headlight/running/parking and turn setup like yours. Are they brighter than the OEM Silverado? Wife is driver and wants better illumination at night. Our headlight assembly isn't fogged or sun damaged at all. So replacing them is all about visibility down the road at night. (I like the look of the Depo kit but my vote doesn't count on this one)

Thanks!

Much brighter. Low beam is a projector type and puts a strong beam with a sharp cut off below oncoming drivers. I put LED bulbs in mine. Will admit that I did not install them, Was at Xtreme getting some body work and they charged me 3 hours to put them in.
The reflector shells are actually made of metal. An excellent upgrade, especially if you do night driving.

Did Extreme tell you what LED bulbs were installed? and, did you go with LED for all the bulbs?

I wonder if they would know?

I bought the led bulbs. Main, DRL and small turn signal bulbs are led, left big turn signal bulb is still incandescent because had hyperflash even though I installed electronic flasher. Can't figure that one out. Uses same bulbs as original Chevy lights, just bought the led versions off Amazon.
