We pulled into MCD this afternoon and have the initial walkthrough with them in the morning. Where did you install, or have them install, the switch (1 or 2?) for the motorized front windshield screens?
We have 1 blank switch to drivers dash left below parking brake and two blanks on the panel below and behind the retrarder joystick.
It seems many of you have had MCD do installs so I assume Inshould be confident they know how properly wire in FT?
Thanks, as always.
Randy
mine are the 2 switches left of the door lock
don't have a picture but they put it in a blank below the retarder on the left panel next to the driver - seems fine there - easy enough to access even when driving you may want to bring the shade down some as a sun block (they actually wire it so it can only go down so far when ignition on, goes down all the way when ignition off.

That's how my white one is wired, the black screen one will go all the way down while driving
FT installed ours on the side wall a little in front of my knee.
On mine there is a 2 switch panel on the vertical padded wall about under the tranny shifter. Both of mine will only come down partways when the ignition is on.
I put ours on the front vertical wall next to the driver's side overhead. Our front end has been modified for a new TV. I wanted somewhere where it was easy to get at while we are parked.
Mine is where Dick S is. For me , it's a good location.
I installed mine above the thermostat in the wood encased chase that runs just behind the driver's chair. It is great that I can easily reach the switch while driving to adjust for sun. This location was also easy to install the wiring. I purchased a two gang switch panel from FT, so it matches all panels in the coach.
I recall that Ken put his there. I thought it was a good spot.
Ours will use the two blank switch locations next to the door lock as Chuck indicated he'd done. This puts the switch in immediate driver control without looking while underway. Perhaps a bit less convenient while parked but anything will be more convenient than existing!
Keith @ MOT did our install and put the two switches next to the air brake.
My coach has it just laying out on the area behind the dash. With a long long wire so I assume the p.o. was going to put it someplace later on.
I was thinking of putting it below the 12 volt power outlets on the right side low of the dash. Next to the radio. For that I will have to cut a hole in the dash.
Or in the two blank spaces below the retarder. I only have one switch, a double pull double throw I believe. And yes it will not lower all the way down if the engine is on.

My understanding is that if you cut the dash you lose the luminescent feature of FT dashes.
Not sure why that would be. There are holes cut into it for a radio and other switches. Would be the same.
The EL dash can be ruined by drilling or cutting in the wrong place. The information has been posted before but I can't find it in a search.

Seems if you cut into the gold you will cut the circuit. Good to know. Just saw that for the first time last night. Didn't know the dash illuminated like that. David (John44) came over with his lovely wife and checked out the coach. When we turned on the lights, I was surprised to see it light up like that.
