Title: Steering column
Post by: bbeane on May 31, 2018, 11:20:57 am
Anyone know who made the tilt tele column! I need to get the lower cover(s) off of mine to see why the tilt won't move. I don't want to start prying on the plastic until I know how it comes off.

Bruce,

Don't know if you have the same steering column as our coach.  If you do, this old thread might shed some light:

Grand Villa Steering Wheel Removal (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=29695.msg252945#msg252945)

I can't remember if the plastic covers over the tilting mechanism can be removed without removing the steering wheel.  Slept since then...

Thanks Chuck, problem fixed nothing broke just stuck. Cleaned and lubed works great. Here is the manufacturer of the column in mine.

Yes, the plastic covers on the Douglas Autotech steering column can be removed without removing the wheel.  Been a long time ago, but as I recall, raising the column made removal and installation easier.  They just (gently) pry off.

I'm going to assume I've got the same set-up. What did you lube it with, Bruce?
