Title: battery size/series question
Post by: saddlesore on June 01, 2018, 11:48:19 am
What series /size (27?  31?) is it for the chassis/start batteries for the '02 320 coach?
And since I now have Lifelines for the coach (and the charging system set for them)
need to replace the chassis batteries to match..
Anyone?

The oem install batteries on every unicoach made were optima spiral wound batteries.

The spiral design dissipates heat best and that helps as hot batteries are severely overcharged from a normal alternator.

We turned our alternator down as Wolfe suggests to 13.6 volts at the battery to avoid long overcharging drives.

At 100 degrees battery temp I think the correct charging  voltage should be 13.0?

I am thinking that the factory use of the optimas was a good compromise judging by the many long term life reports here.

OK...
 THANK YOU ALL!
Have an appt @ Brattain here in town to lose the stock muffler for a resonator & will swap out the batteries as well..
(on our coach the chassis batteries are hidden behind the stock muffler, so must drop the exhaust anyways....hope my idea works, as the exhaust parts are about $340.00  all in.
