Title: Aqua hot heater hose
Post by: Chris m lang on June 02, 2018, 02:19:13 pm
While chasing wire I came across the Aqua hot heater hoses under bottom drawer of closet with these fittings.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what they are for?
Also, at what point should I be thinking about changing these hoses?
Thanks
Chris

Just a guess but either they are shut off valves or tempering valves that restrict the flow.

My guess too.  The heat exchangers are all in series (hose goes in one side, out the other to the next heat exchanger.  If this is the closet in the bathroom then it goes to the basement.  In the bedroom there is maybe only one (as it is in our 36').  So shutting off the flow or restricting it affects everything down stream.

There is one of these things in my basement wet bay near the heat exchanger on the curb side.

Rudy might tell us what it really is.

I have no idea.  Installed by Fortravel.  Not sourced from Aqua Hot to my knowledge.

At what point would you start changing hoses?  I would sure hate for one to sprout a leak.
Thanks

They are bleeders to bleed the air out of the lines

Do we all have them?

I don't know if they were used later, I only knew of the earlier models.
