Title: Splendid w/d removal
Post by: John and Kathleen on June 16, 2018, 01:35:46 pm
I have a Splendide 2000 that we have no use for. Can the unit be removed through the front door? Is this something requiring any special knowledge or tools? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You probably know it's big, awkward and heavy. Very few are bolted in. Just lift it out. If you can get access to the top remove 2 screws on the back (upper left & right) then push cover forward should come right off. Inside are 2 big cement blocks that are bolted in. Removing these will get rid of some of the weight. Put moving blanket down and pull the unit out and and lay on it side. Now work your way to the door and have the strong person at the bottom of the step and the other one at the top. Heavy end first slide down the steps and out you go.

My wife and I did this 3 or 4 years ago. Just plan it out and go for it.

see ya

Put down a piece of cardboard with plywood on top to protect the floor.

Pull out the unit and disassemble right there.  MUCH easier to carry out piece by piece.

Ours removed easily and drawers installed in its stead.  Sealed off the water line

This forum and it's members are so amazing! We will be installing drawers as the extra storage is really important for us.

Some hints on how a Splendide is accessible (at least in a 2003 U320): Sewer Odor, roof sewer vent, air admitance valves inside... (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=34106.25)

Mike,

Did you change the doors, or use the louvered original? Or just put drawer fronts in its place?

Thanks,

Trent

well, traveling mostly by myself and often with full hook ups, I upgraded my Splendide because it gets so much use.

In any event - old one went out door, new one came in - two folks from MOT did the switch in 30 minutes.

I contributed an autograph to the effort - on the credit card receipt - glad not to hurt myself messing with the effort - it is pretty heavy

Splendide 2100XC for most of us.

You will want to remove the screen door when taking the washer out.  Through a long saga, I have removed mine from the coach while at the Splendid Distributor twice for two failures at getting it to dry. I replaced it with a 2100XC, which is working perfectly. I think I should have waited though for someone getting rid of theirs. Would have saved me more than a coach buck.
