Guardian Glass has been producing new windshields for the last couple of years with their new Solar Management Glass, which is supposed to reduce heat transferred through the glass by absorbing it.

I called Guardian to learn more about it, hoping it was similar to the Low-E coating on my residential windows. It's not. Low-E reflects the heat. SMG is green glass that absorbs it.
I need to give them the part # for my windshield & they'll tell me if they're still filling orders from old stock (prior to SMG), or if a new order would be filled with SMG. I'm not crazy about the idea of a green tinted windshield, unless the heat reduction is similar to the 3M Crystalline film that I'd considered after a new windshield. I have an 18" crack that is growing. I don't know how long I can wait for SMG if it's not available until the old stock is gone, or if I need to jump ASAP for the non-SMG if it's still available. Anybody have an SMG windshield and have an opinion on it? Does it help to keep the heat down at the drivers seat, or is it just green tinted glass?
If it absorbs the heat a great deal of the heat will make it into the coach. Must be better options.
This will not help while driving but sure does cool things down when parked facing the sun - iCloud Photo Sharing (http://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0TGrq0zwGPRXeE)
The pipe insulators create an air gap so the heat stops at the Magna Shade and does not transfer to the windshield and into the coach. Only takes about 5 minutes max to install on the windshield and no ladders or additional people needed.
Contrary to what Guardian said over the phone, their information below indicates that SMG may in fact include a Low-E coating.

There is no information however on it's effectiveness. They will have a booth at the Gillette FMCA rally in July, where I hope to get better information & maybe a demo.
