Title: Residential fridge travel lock
Post by: Alan & Gerri Ortiz on June 25, 2018, 08:07:17 am
If you have an over under door arrangement in your residential fridge install, we stumbled on a neat travel lock for it. Cost about $7 + shipping. I have seen in the forum archives where some have made this style but fir $7 why not?

I wonder if something like this pressing up against the door while driving might over time cause some rubbing/vibtation wear marks.

We found this small sliding door latch at Lowes or Home Depot.  Never in the way, nothing to store.  Simple and functional.  3M VHB tape to hold it to the refrig soor, no screws.

It is covered in heavy duty vinyl and doesn't appear to put undue stress on the doors (at least this trip].

A pic to help one visualize. Haven't finished the trim yet. Saved the walnut panel from OEM fridge to make these when we get back home.

Looks like it should work well.  All you have to do is remember to use it.  We forgot once.
