Title: 1996 tub/shower caulk leaks
Post by: Saltfevr on June 25, 2018, 02:44:42 pm
Hi everyone
Forgive me if this issue was mentioned before. All I found was leaky tub drain.
Seeing Im 5th owner since first Foretravel purchase,18mos ago.
Noticed  water on plywood floor thru  vanity door shower drain access. Upon using flashlight and small makeup mirror , looking up, noticed black 2x2 wood underneath tub lip on shower head end.
Plus saw slight rust in driver side, rear fender well below shower wall. Methinks caulk leak has been ongoing. Dried out wet wood, removed old caulk, and recaulked . Will get 4oz por 15 for upper wheel well. Just reminder to check SBID tub caulk periodically.

Not sure I understand exactly where the leak is. Anyhow, possibility is the drain itself. I and others have had that problem. It's very difficult to access the plumbing from below when the shower is located over the wheel well. There's a nifty product, however, which allows you to repair/replace the leaking drain from above. Here's my post on this and it will lead you to a very complete description by filte2010. Good luck.

Jor, Thanks for reply. Yes I read about wing tite drain repair. My post was confusing. The water was from old caulk around tub/shower lip,as shown in picture. The black wood was found underneath tub lip, using small mirror and flashlight. Sure glad it appears caulk only leaked on one side of tub under shower head. Thanks
