Our ABS light on dash has been intermittent for a while. It is now on solid continuously. I unplugged and re-plugged the ABS module (engine off, ignition off) with no change. I have not yet pulled the top dash cover to read the ABS flashing light sequence.
I had ABS on cars before, but my previous 2 coaches had no ABS. Is it truly valuable on a Foretravel given weight and brake system? Just wondering about repair versus ignore. I'll be in Nac the week of Aug 10 and can have it checked out there.
Have you tried tapping on them lightly where they go into the brake-hub assembly? One time that worked for me. Sometimes they come unseated.
Personally, I have my doubts about the value in vehicles the size of ours -- except maybe for winter-time driving in snowy icy climes.
Due to a seriously leaking front ABS valve that was obsoleted by Haldex (no replacement) my ABS has been disabled and the valve replaced with a standard relay valve. I can't tell the difference, but I've also never had to do a complete panic stop.
There is the obvious trade-off. If it is something as simple and (relatively) inexpensive as a sensor seems worthwhile to correct. Beyond that it gets expensive quickly and a grayer decision.
I haven't been under the coach to see how accessible they are.
I found this and will check within next 2 days. We are stationary for the next 19 days (will not be driving coach).

And An Introduction to Antilock Braking (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/introduction_to_antilock_braking.html)
I counted the polling clicks today when ignition key is turned on. All eight ABS sensors "clicked" as normal.
Finally have a definitive answer to what those switches are for.
:D
Dan,
All the ABS valve clicking tells you is the continuity of the ABS electrical circuit is ok. Unless you hear an air release for each wheel you don't know if those ABS valves work.
On my '95 if you pressed on the brake then turned the key on I would get two air releases for each wheel.
Not sure how to test the later system. Maybe if your foot is on the brake when you turn on the key you will get some air releases ? Should be a way to do the full test. Those valves may not have moved since they were built. Everything needs to be exercised.
