Title: Fill Fresh Water Tank
Post by: RandallBrink on August 14, 2018, 01:40:31 pm
My 1989 U300 GV Operators manual does not provide a description of how to fill the fresh water tank. It vaguely refers to a "valve" but does not mention where the valve is located. I have searched everywhere inside the water service compartment. Nothing labled. There are three standard faucet-type valves there, but all appear to be drain valves with the openings protruding out of the belly plate.

Any advice or guidance will be appreciated!

Can you post a picture of the wet bay?

There is a couple of members that have coaches similar to yours that will chime in for sure.  IIRC seems like that fill valve is under the floor of the bathroom vanity.  There is a access hand hole cut in the floor.  I think this is before the time that Foretravel switched the placement of that valve to the little box  in the floor between the 2 front seats.

Our U300's fill valve is also inside the door under the sink on the right side. Use a flashlight the first time to find it.

Pierce, thanks. I'll look again. I didn't find it there upon first look, but maybe I am searching for something more obscure.

It's between the 2 cabinet doors... to the side of the sink bowl...

Thanks to all who directed me under the bathroom sink. I would maybe have found the valve in the next year, but not this season. This seems to have been my final mystery to solve before having full functionality of my coach. Very much appreciate all your help!

Randall,
A good upgrade to consider once you get all caught up is a direct fill for your water tank (lots of posts on different schemes). Then you can forget all about that valve.

My valve was in-between the cabinet door under bathroom sink as well, kinda blended in with the carpet thats under sink. I have not got a chance to use it yet but since were on this topic, when you do open the valve to fill tank, is there an overflow at bottom of coach to let you know its full?

If yours is like the later models, the overflow is located at the top of the water tank on the passenger side. It is a hose that dumps right down the bulkhead in front of the rear duals. Many of us have rerouted that hose through the floor so it dumps the water directly onto the ground. On my 95 300 and on this 97 270 you could see the overflow hose through an access hole in the compartment just forward of the water heater. Here's a photo of the access hole.

While you fill, be sure to turn off the water pump. Otherwise pump will run constant until you close the valve when the tank is full
