One of our toilet mounting bolts broke off,to those of you that have done this before, are these 2 bolts more or less the same as
the ones on a household toilet? Is leaking slightly and don't want to start the job without some heads up info.
Yes
Dave, if you can, take one of the other existing bolts off and then you have something to compare to the store's bolt.
Me, I would plan on sequentially replacing ALL the toilet hold down bolts 'cause if one went bad then others should be following. Kind of like when one headlight went out the other side wasn't far behind, seeing as they were always on at the same time.
On our 2000 with Microphore toilet, the bolts were actually lag screws that went into the wood underlayment. They don't resemble the normal house toilet hardware.
My two are also the lag bolt type. Are yours the same? I would do what nighthawk suggested and remove the other one for comparison at a hardware store.
Unless I missed something I believe that the Microphor toilets were only put in the 320 models. They are distinctly different than other RV toilets. FT models at lower price points got a more standard RV style toilet.
I replaced the toilet in my U295 and it had standard household bolts. My coach originally had a Sealand toilet which I replaced with a like model now from Dometic.
Mine had the Lags also.. My toilet wood was worn out from removal a few times so I made a piece of flat bar with a bolt stud sticking up and made the flat bat wide enough it would span over the old holes and made new holes through the flat bar.. 1 stud each side and worked like a charm
