Title: aux compressor revisited
Post by: GleamB on August 26, 2018, 05:19:47 pm
Had the aux compressor worked on at HWH last May. Thought they got it working right. Just moved my coach less than 1/2 mile to get it ready for our road trip. When I stopped, the aux was running hard. I was happy to hear it running, but it didn't seem to want to stop. I crawled into the bay and looked at the inline gauge that I had installed, per HWH instructions, and it was wavering near 120.
I thought the limit switch would shut off at 90 psi??. Any ideas, or suggestions of how I change the cut off??

Glen, do u have a PDF of the HWH aux comp guide?  It is in the HWH tech manual re: leveling and stuff.

The small compressor will run until pressure builds to the limit.  It may produce more pressure until the pressure builds.  You can put an inline fuse in the power line (red) to the pump and pull the fuse. Or put in a relay in the power line and a switch on the side panel of the dash to enable or disable the pump. You can also interupt the power on signal from the pressure switch.

I did the switch in the powerline approach.  To operate the room seal, deflate or inflate, the pump needs to be on and running.

My pressure switch sticks some times but not often. I have a replacement to install.

If your HWH tank is empty it could take 15 min to fill to pressure.  Much more than that and you have a big leak somewhere.  Don't let the pump run for any longer than that or you will wear it out.

I think page 10 starts with compressor. Might be worth a look.

Do what Roger said.  ^.^d

Agree, but doubt if it is leak if inline pressure on output of compressor is 120. Limit switch should shut off at 90, above that suspect stocking limit switch In any event interupt power to pump via one of the means suggested ASAP and let pump cool down

Info on 2003 compressor system in link below, and see atchd photo as well.

In the attached photo - at far right in photo - see device with green spring. (It has a grey cover over it normally).  The nut adjusts pressure up and down. From memory (double check), clockwise increases pressure, counter clockwise decreases pressure.

Aux 12 volt compressor compartment "thumping" sound (actually air unloader) (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=34259.msg314643#msg314643 )

I have installed an inline switch and did shut off the compressor. I thought the aux came on at 60 and off at 90. I can try and adjust the regulator. don't want to lose the compressor

Hang on a sec Glen. As I recall you don't have a slide. Am I wrong? If no slide your aux ONLY comes on to level you. The tank pressure is irrelevant because the aux does NOT put air in your tanks, only the air bags and it comes on when tank pressure drops below 80 psi. It will cut off when you're level or in about 15 minutes. So......If the aux continually runs, you have a leak. If you do have a slide room.......nevermind.

Twig makes great cocktails. Yes, I have a slide.
