Many are familiar with Victron and their amp-hour meters. I had my learning this this week when I installed a Victron BMV-712 battery monitor on Daughter's Camper.
With the included shunt, it measures amp-hour, voltages, amps etc. This model includes Bluetooth connectivity, so it is easy to configure meter and readout measurements, all of which can also be done on the meter.
Easy installation with included cables. Just had to make a battery to shunt cable.
Attached is their flyer and instruction manual.
I would say the Victron is a step-up from Trimetric, which now also has optional Bluetooth.
I had one installed just a few months ago. The bluetooth function is really handy and it's great to see how much battery and time you have remaining running stuff when boondocking. Great item!
I have had two Trimetric units and now the Victron. My nonengineering self much prefers the data presentation on the Victron.
I've installed 2 BMV-710's in my other coaches and installed a 712 in my FT. The bluetooth interface is much nicer since all the info is on one screen. And much easier to program it. Along with my Victron Smartsolar bluetooth solar controller it's nice to be able to see all the info on either the phone, tablet, or laptop.
I have the same setup, the history from the SmartSolar is a great source of information too.
I have a monster Solar System on my 5th (still for sale) and used all marine grade components. I'm really impressed with the Victron equipment. my 150/85 Solar Charge Controller and 712 Battery Monitor both have Bluetooth, much easier to read and trend data. The Victron Color Controller looks snazzy, but does not offer much extra for the added cost, unless you like the Prius style dynamic graphics.
Planning on a similar solar setup on our U295
