We had some heavy rain yesterday and today, and I found water in a bucket that was in the corner of the shower, so there is a leak up there somewhere.
Question 1: Assuming that the skylight itself is in good shape, what would be the preferred method of resealing it? Dicor? Eternabond tape? Something else?
Question 2: Actually maybe this ought to be question 1. What is the purpose of the skylight, other than providing another place for leaks? Would the resale value of our coach be totally destroyed it the skylight was removed and the hole covered over, insulation placed in the empty space, and a suitable inside cover provided? I realize the hole would still be there, so a leak would still be possible.
I haven't discussed this with Jo Ann, but I can't see the point of a skylight in the shower, even though every coach I've been in has had one. Maybe there is some obscure Federal rule mandating it?
They let daylight in the bathroom is one plus. My'81 is still not leaking and hasn't had any resealing done to it. I would find the leak and reseal it if it were me.
If you are 5'-6" or so you won't need that extra headroom. At 6'-2" I extend into the added headroom. I like the extra light except early in the morning.
I used Dicor when we developed a tiny leak around the skylight.
I used some 3M 4200 UV . Then I discovered it was a condensation leak. Was the leaking water tinted brown?
No, it was clear. I've had a mobile mechanic up on the roof lately to take off the old sat dish and seal the hole, then he had to come back to reconnect the tv antenna. I wonder if he bumped something up there, or just the stress of walking on the roof caused the leak. These have been the only leaks we've had in the five years we've owned this coach.

After I bought my coach six years ago I found a similar leak in the corner of the shower after a heavy rain. Before I bought It the PO told me they had just re-sealed it for leaks so I didn't go up on the roof to inspect. No problem with the skylight but I found a foot long crack extending out from the corner of the skylight back toward the center of the roof. My guess is a stress crack from a heavy foot right at the corner of the skylight when they were re-caulking. Delamination and separation occurs as result when water gets in.
I took the upper trim inside the shower off to look for damage and fortunately there wasn't any. I filled the crack with black silicone sealer and then covered that with a heavy layer of dicor. I also looked for any other places for potential leaks and covered them with dicor also. So far no leaks until I can make a permanent repair and re-coat the roof. FOT wanted a coach buck and a half to do it but that was six years ago.
If you can get up on the roof to inspect periodically you might find some hairline cracks that need attention. I always keep a tube of dicor sealant on hand just in case something needs re-sealing.
